Understanding Access in OneDirectory

This guide shows you exactly where to find Access in OneDirectory and breaks down the three built-in roles.

Written by Greg Bennett

Manage user access and permissions in the Access section of the Directory Console.

Open Access

  1. In the OneDirectory sidebar (your live employee directory), click Directory Console at the bottom.

  2. In the Directory Console sidebar, select Access.

The three roles

  • Administrator — full access to the entire Directory Console: Overview, People, Structure, Org Charts, Appearance, Data Sources, Fields, and Access.

  • Directory Editor — Directory Console access to Overview, People, and Structure only. Can build and edit the directory and profile data, but can’t reach Org Charts, Appearance, Data Sources, Fields, or Access.

  • End User — the default role once data is synced. Can use OneDirectory and edit only their own profile, on the fields made editable for employees. No Console access.

Administrators and Directory Editors open the Console with the Edit in Console button in the top bar of the live directory, next to your profile picture.

Tip: End User is assigned automatically — you only need to assign the Administrator or Directory Editor roles.
