Enabling prebuilt fields

The six prebuilt fields OneDirectory ships with, and how to enable them from the Disabled Fields list.

Written by Greg Bennett

OneDirectory includes prebuilt fields that are disabled by default. Administrators can enable them in Fields. Some add functionality beyond a simple profile field.

Open Fields

  1. In the OneDirectory sidebar (your live employee directory), click Directory Console at the bottom, or click Edit in Console in the top bar.

  2. In the Directory Console sidebar, select Fields.

Prebuilt fields

  • Assistant — adds an editable Assistant section to profiles; assistants render on the org chart. See How to set up the Assistant field.

  • Dotted Line Manager — adds an editable Dotted Line Manager section to profiles; dotted-line managers render with dotted lines on the org chart. See How to set up the Dotted Line Manager field.

  • Employee ID

  • Employee Type

  • Street Address

  • Zip/Postcode

Note: These six are the complete set of prebuilt fields. If you are looking for a field that is not listed here and not in Disabled Fields, it does not exist as a prebuilt field in OneDirectory. Contact us rather than searching for it and we will tell you what the options are.

Enable a prebuilt field

  1. In the Disabled Fields list at the bottom of the Fields page, click the field.

  2. Toggle Enabled on.

  3. Set its Data Source and Edit Permissions as needed.

The field moves up into Profile Fields and is available on profiles straight away.

Tip: The Assistant and Dotted Line Manager fields both render on the org chart, so they’re a great way to show relationships beyond the direct manager.
