Why can't I see all my offices or departments?

Empty offices, departments, and org units are hidden from the live directory — see all of them in Directory Console → Structure.

If some offices, departments, or organizational units seem to be missing from the list, it’s usually because they have no people assigned to them.

Why this happens

Your live directory only shows offices, departments, and organizational units that have at least one person assigned. Empty ones are hidden from everyone browsing the directory, so a unit you’ve just created won’t appear until someone is in it.

See the full list

Empty offices, departments, and organizational units are always visible in the Directory Console:

  1. In your live directory, click Edit in Console in the top bar, next to your profile picture.

  2. In the Directory Console sidebar, open Structure, then select Offices, Departments, or your organizational unit.

The Profiles column shows how many people are assigned to each one. Anything showing 0 is hidden from the live directory.

Make an empty one appear

Assign at least one person to it and it appears in the directory straight away. See How to add or remove employees from an office or How to add or remove employees from a department.

Note: The Edit in Console button is available to Administrators and Directory Editors. To remove an empty office or department for good, see How to delete an office or How to delete a department.
