Why isn't a user showing up in OneDirectory?

Troubleshoot a person missing from the directory — a checklist covering Entra, filtering rules, manual hiding, and sync.

Written by Greg Bennett

If someone is missing from OneDirectory, it’s almost always related to how data syncs from Microsoft 365. Work through this checklist.

Checklist

  1. Confirm the account exists in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID and is enabled. OneDirectory only shows accounts it can read from Microsoft Graph.

  2. Check it isn’t filtered out. Guest and service accounts can be excluded by filtering rules, and your directory may be limited to specific domains.

  3. Check it isn’t hidden manually. The Profiles card on the Console Overview shows how many accounts are hidden by rules vs hidden manually.

  4. Run a full sync. New or recently changed users appear after the next sync — trigger one from Directory Console → Data Sources.

Still missing?

If the account is enabled in Entra, isn’t filtered, isn’t hidden, and still doesn’t appear after a full sync, contact OneDirectory Support so we can check it against Microsoft Graph.

Tip: The Profiles card on the Overview page is the quickest way to see whether someone is hidden by a rule or manually.
