Can I filter by security group or attribute?

OneDirectory's built-in filters cover guests, service accounts, and domains; security-group or attribute filtering is via support or roadmap.

Written by Greg Bennett

OneDirectory includes built-in filtering rules to control which accounts appear. Advanced filtering by security group or custom attribute may need our help.

Built-in filters

From Directory Console → Data Sources → Filtering Rules, you can:

  • Hide guest accounts

  • Hide service accounts

  • Include specific domains only

What you cannot filter by

Those three rules are the complete set. There is no in-app rule for any of the following:

  • By role, including hiding administrative accounts or accounts that hold an admin role

  • By security group or distribution group membership

  • By department, office, job title or manager

  • By any custom Entra ID attribute

If you need one of these, contact OneDirectory Support. Tell us which group you want filtered and what result you are after. We can often apply a custom filter to your tenant, and we track these requests against the roadmap.

Tip: You can hide a specific set of accounts yourself right now. In Directory Console → People, tick the profiles you want and set Show in directory for all of them at once. This covers the accounts you select today; new accounts arriving later won't be hidden automatically. See How to show or hide profiles in bulk.
